Speed UP! Europe Accelerates “Future Internet” Business Ideas

Speed UP! Europe is an EC project aiming at accelerating “Future Internet” related business ideas, start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises active in smart cities, clean tech and agri food, by providing coaching, office space (Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Hamburg) and €5.5 million for at least 100 startups in open application grants.

The project is developed by a pan-European consortium of actors – including ECN – with different knowledge and expertises, which will be made available to the selected businesses, in order to foster their growth and development. ECN, in particular, will share its crowdfunding knowledge and expertise by organizing a series of workshops and webinars.

How does Speed UP! Europe Work?

100 projects will be granted €50,000 each for software and equipment, travel expenses, rent of facilities and accommodation costs. An additional €20,000 can be requested during project implementation to bring in another project member at a later stage. This is a grant with no repayment and no give away of shares.
Approved projects will be supported by one of the nine European business support organisations involved in Speed UP! Europe, located in Hamburg, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Aarhus and Brussels.
Every project team will be appointed mentors and coaches for up to one year and successfully evaluated projects may receive assistance to ramp up for further funding.
