3rd ECN CrowdCon, 11-12 December 2014, Paris

Brussels, 5 June 2014. The European Crowdfunding Network (ECN) has announced Europe’s most important conference on crowdfunding, the ECN Crowdfunding Convention, involving all relevant stakeholder groups, to be held on 11-12 December 2014 in Paris in order to further develop the European framework for crowdfunding.

Crowdfunding is becoming an increasingly popular way of investing private assets in economic, cultural and innovative ventures without involving bank or other intermediaries. Private individuals are now playing a direct role in funding the economy and providing companies with a financial helping hand.

The ECN has chosen Paris over a number of competing locations, because the French government has more than other member states openly implemented a proactive promotion of crowdfunding and created an enabling flexible legal framework that does so far not exclude but welcomes pan-European harmonisation.

Putting the decision into context, ECN Chairman & Executive Director, Oliver Gajda, says “Paris is becoming one of the most important places for European crowdfunding, with a thriving and innovative crowdfunding sector on the ground. We hope to be able to build on this positive momentum and encourage exchange of best practices amongst crowdfunding professionals, policy makers and regulators, as well as stakeholders focusing on aspects such as customer protection, culture, innovation and capital markets.”

ECN is looking forward to welcome the European crowdfunding industry and all related stakeholders in Paris, on 11-12 December 2014, in order to promote crowdfunding to international markets and support the European Commission’s efforts to draw up a harmonised European regulatory framework, connecting decisions makers from across Europe.

ECN is a professional network promoting adequate transparency, (self) regulation and governance while offering a combined voice in policy discussion and public opinion building. We support our members in carrying initiatives aimed at innovating, representing, promoting and protecting the European crowdfunding industry. Our aim is to increase the understanding of the key roles that crowdfunding can play in supporting entrepreneurship of all types.
