Under the patronage of Fleur Pellerin, Deputy Minister for SMEs, innovation and the digital economy of the French Government, Les Assises de la finance participative will be held on 30 September 2013 in Paris.
The one day conference will be dedicated to the presentation of crowdfunding, to gather opinion leaders and strengthening the movement of participatory finance at the national and international level. The conference will give the opportunity to meet platforms and other actors of the crowdfunding ecosystem and will be sharing best practices, with many ECN members present. The conference will also discuss new regulatory environment, with the European Crowdfunding Network discuss withthe Cabinet of the European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services, Michel Barnier what the European policy for the development of crowdfunding might encompass.
The European Crowdfunding Network will argue that the European Commission should take a leading role in providing a common view on crowdfunding – and quickly. It has now an excellent opportunity to establish a framework, before national regulation can further fragment the market. However, it would not be an easy task for the European Commission and would require relevant insights and data from the industry, which are still lacking. Over the past year, our work has already prompted the European Commission in its different Directorate Generals to start observing the topic of crowdfunding in order to better understand the potential effect it might have on economic growth and job creation. We welcome this opportunity to share our visions in public.
